Pete Williams has reported on sports and sports business for more than 15 years. He’s the author or co-author of eight books and his work has appeared in numerous publications, including USA Today, USA Today Sports Weekly, Men’s Health, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Miami Herald, Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal and The Sporting News sports annuals.

Williams is best known for his work covering sports business for USA Today Baseball Weekly from 1991-1998 and for Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal since 1999. His books include the definitive business-side accounts of the sports memorabilia industry (Card Sharks) and the NFL draft (The Draft).

Williams teamed with noted trainer and performance coach Mark Verstegen to write the best-selling fitness book Core Performance (Rodale Books), which launched the core training phenomenon in 2003. The book has inspired three follow-up books, including Core Performance Essentials and Core Performance Endurance, which applies Verstegen's revolutionary core training system to running, cycling, and swimming. Their most recent book is Core Performance Golf, released in February.

Williams also collaborated with gonzo marketer Mike Veeck on the business motivational book Fun is Good: How to Create Joy and Passion in Your Workplace and Career, now available in paperback.

Williams was an original staff writer of USA Today’s Baseball Weekly, where he spent seven years as a writer and columnist. Later, he worked as a baseball insider reporter for Fox Sports News and as a weekend sports anchor for Bay News 9 TV in St. Petersburg, Florida. He’s appeared as a guest on hundreds of television and radio programs and has taught journalism classes at the University of South Florida’s Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses.

The author of two books on the sports memorabilia industry, Williams is one of the media’s leading authorities on the collectibles business. He has served as an expert witness or consultant in court cases involving memorabilia related to Ted Williams, Barry Bonds, and other prominent sports figures. A native of Alexandria, Virginia, and a graduate of the University of Virginia, Williams lives in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area with his wife and children. An avid triathlete, he's a member of Team Espresso Love Racing.
